# Demo content

# Demo content

The demo import is what turns a blank WordPress install into a complete SaaS marketing site. This page tells you exactly what it creates, what it changes, and how to undo it — read it before running the import on a site that already has content.

## What it creates

### Five pages

> **Home**
>
> `/home/` — a full Elementor layout with hero, feature grid, testimonial section, pricing table, and closing call to action. Assigned the **Page Builder Full Width** template.

> **About**
>
> `/about/` — company story layout with headings, paragraphs, and imagery. Assigned the **Page Builder Full Width** template.

> **Services**
>
> `/services/` — service offering layout with repeating sections. Assigned the **Page Builder Full Width** template.

> **Contact**
>
> `/contact/` — contact page containing a Contact Form 7 shortcode. Assigned the **Page Builder Full Width** template.

> **Blog**
>
> `/blog/` — an empty page assigned as your **posts page**. No Elementor layout; it renders the theme's built-in blog index.

The Home, About, Services, and Contact layouts are stored as JSON files inside the theme at `elementor-templates/`. They are ordinary Elementor page documents, so once imported you edit them exactly like any page you build yourself.

### One menu

If no **Primary Menu** exists, the theme creates one named *Primary Menu*, adds an item for each of the five pages, and assigns it to the **Primary Menu** location. If a primary menu already exists, its items are refreshed to match.

### Three site options

* `show_on_front` is set to `page`
* `page_on_front` is set to the Home page ID
* `page_for_posts` is set to the Blog page ID

> [!WARNING]
>
> **This is the part that changes your site.** If *Your homepage displays* was set to "Your latest posts", the import switches it to a static page. If you had a different front page, it is replaced. If you had no posts page, one is now assigned. Check **Settings → Reading** after the import.

## What it does not touch

The import is deliberately narrow. It does **not** modify:

* Your posts, comments, or media library
* Any page you created yourself
* Your widgets
* Your users or roles
* Elementor's global color or typography settings beyond what the theme manages separately
* Your permalink structure

> [!NOTE]
>
> One exception worth knowing: if the theme finds leftover pages from an older version using a `vara-` slug prefix that it can confirm it created, it permanently removes them. It requires both the theme's own origin meta **and** the slug prefix to match before deleting anything.

## Before you import

**1. Back up**

Use your host's backup tool, or **Tools → Export → All** in WordPress.

**2. Note your current reading settings**

Write down what *Your homepage displays* is set to. You may want to restore it.

**3. Note your existing menus**

If you already have a menu assigned to the **Primary Menu** location, the import will refresh its items.

## Running the import

> **[From the wizard](/introduction/setup-wizard.md)**

## Editing the demo pages

Open any imported page and click **Edit with Elementor**. Every element is editable — there is no locked content and nothing to unlock.

A few things to expect:

> **The demo copy is placeholder marketing text**
>
> The hero, feature cards, testimonials, and pricing tiers are all hardcoded sample content describing a fictional product. Replace them with your own. Do not ship the demo copy.

> **Colors follow your brand automatically**
>
> Elementor's global Primary, Secondary, Text, and Accent colors are written from your Customizer values. Change your brand colors in the Customizer and the demo pages follow. See [Colors](/getting-started/colors.md).

> **The contact page form needs attention**
>
> The Contact page ships with a Contact Form 7 shortcode referencing a **fixed form ID** that was valid on the author's site only. On your install it will not resolve. See [Contact Form 7](/integrations/contact-form-7.md) for the fix.

## Removing the demo content

If you imported the demo and want a clean slate, see [Removing demo content](/templates/removing-demo-content.md) — it covers deleting the pages safely without breaking your front page settings.
