Settings

The footer has two halves.

Brand block

Logo, description paragraph, contact email, and social icons. This is the leftmost column.

Link columns

One to three editable columns of links. The total column count is set by Footer columns.
The Footer columns setting controls the total, and is clamped between 2 and 4. The first column is always the brand block; the remaining columns are your editable link columns.
The default footer link columns contain placeholder links, including several # anchors that go nowhere. Replace them before launch — it is on the launch checklist.
Each link column is a single textarea field with a strict format — one link per line, written as:
The pipe separates the visible label from the destination. Working example:
The pipe character is the separator. If you put a link on multiple lines, or omit the pipe, the theme will not parse it as a link and will render it as plain text.

Social icons

Four social slots, each with a URL and an icon. The Social icons alignment setting positions them within the brand column.
A slot with an empty URL is not rendered at all. Leave a URL blank to hide that icon rather than deleting it.
Accessibility: each social icon link carries an accessible label and opens in a new tab. The new-tab behaviour is announced to assistive technology, so screen reader users know the link will leave the site. If you link to an internal page instead, remove the new-tab behaviour via custom CSS or a child theme rather than leaving an inconsistent experience.

Brand description and email

The copyright field accepts HTML, filtered through wp_kses_post. The default renders the current year and your site title automatically. To keep the default, leave the field alone. To write your own:
Separate from the Site Identity logo, and separately sized. If no footer logo is set, the brand block falls back to your site title.

Responsive behavior

The brand block and link columns sit side by side in a single row, divided by the column count you chose.
Columns stack vertically in order — brand block first, then your link columns. Social icons remain grouped beneath the description.
Four columns stack into a long footer on small screens. If yours feels too long, reduce to two or three columns rather than relying on the breakpoint.

Common tasks

Clear its URL. Empty slots are not rendered.

Navigation icons

The same bundled Font Awesome, used in your menu.

Header and menus
